Clyde Marine

Clyde Marine Training

Based in Scotland, we are the largest maritime training provider for Merchant Navy Officers in the UK.

At Clyde Marine Training, we are justifiably proud of our reputation for developing cadets – in the UK, around a half of all Merchant Navy Officer Trainees are trained by us. With some 900 trainees at any one time, we are the country’s largest marine training organisation.

We manage the entire process of training - from the recruitment of each trainee through to completion of MCA exams.

Each Officer Trainee is sponsored throughout their training by one of our 51 client companies and all of the training costs including tuition fees are met by the sponsoring company.

Have you got what it takes to be an officer at sea?

There is a tremendous need for high quality and well trained personnel to manage and operate the technologically sophisticated ships of today.

The training programmes will provide you with the skills and expertise to progress through the ranks towards command of your own ship or have the full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the ships propulsion units.

After working at sea, your knowledge and expertise will also be in demand ashore world-wide in jobs relating to Personnel/Training and Superintendents within Shipping Companies, lecturing in Nautical Colleges, Port Administration and pilotage, surveying, insurance and law... We could go on!

With further study and hard work you could command your own ship or be chief engineer, anywhere in the world and also aim for a senior position ashore in ship management.

Once qualified, if you wish to come ashore to work then your qualifications will be particularly valuable in many areas such as:

•organisation, operation and commercial control of ships
•port and harbour management and administration
•vessel and cargo broking, vessel finance and trade management
•technical management of ships
