There is a lot to say on this topic.

Here are some ideas on what you could include in your letter:

  • First of all remember to start the letter appropriately. Lieber (m) and liebe (f).
  • If you are talking about foods and drinks you like and dislike, remember to give reasons. You will gain extra points if you can give opinions accurately.
  • Try and use more complicated structures, such as weil... (because). Remember to send the verb to the end after weil.
  • You could talk about the differences between German and British foods, such as the differences between the breakfasts. Give an opinion. Say which you prefer and why.
  • Talk about the different foods eaten at Christmas and other festivals.
  • Talk about foods you like eating when you eat out. Say whether you eat healthily and how you could improve on your diet.
  • Have you ever tried a slimming diet? What are the advantages and disadvantages of diets?
  • Remember to try and ask your friend some questions that they could then reply to in their next letter to you.
  • Close the letter appropriately.
  • Always check your spelling, genders, word order. Make sure you have answered the question and covered everything you have been asked to do.
