The Story
Can you make it in the city? Mr C is a self-made millionaire from the Roxburgh Estate and looking for a heir to his business. He saw you put up a fight and thinks you might have the same hunger he once had… can you prove him right? A bit rougher than the Apprentice, Mr C sets you tasks, but can you overcome the obstacles in the way?
Goal
Start with nothing and progress through the city, blag jobs, find places to stay, avoid thieves and dodgy business men on your own rags to riches journey. Mr C will give you tips on jobs and ways to progress through the city - he’s keeping an eye on them.
Gameplay
The game follows a point and click adventure game format, working your way through game, you will visit areas that become increasingly affluent - the Roxburgh estate, Stockgate, St.John's and the Grove. You can click on characters and buildings in view - when they do a text box will appear with a message. Messages will be offers of places to stay, jobs to take and people to meet that might help you in the city. Not all the text boxes will be there to help - click on someone's house and they might tell you to get lost.
How the Game is Played
The text boxes will present you with choices and progress through the game depends on the decisions you make. Many of the choices will be financially based - make money doing jobs, take out a loan to stay in a better area and watch out for people trying to defraud you. The player’s task is to progress through the areas unlocking them through good decisions about the jobs they take, places they stay and what they spend their money on. Decisions will have consequences, make enough bad ones (take a loan you can’t pay back or blow all your money on trainers) and you’ll find it impossible to progress. As the player progresses through the areas their surroundings become nicer, the jobs better paid and places to stay more exclusive – life becomes better as you make a success of yourself.
At various points in the game the player will receive text messages from Mr. C. Some of these messages will lead you to a mini flash game. These mark the end of each level and successful completion of these games unlocks the next area. Minigames will appear when you’ve made significant progress in the area and are ready (and financially able) to live in the next area. In the first minigame, at the end of the first area, Mr. C says he needs you to do a favour for a friend of his. You are to help a café owner by doing a job for him. In the second area you’ll work as a keyboard player in a jazz café! In the third you’ll get a job taking dictation for an eccentric lawyer. In the final area a special challenge awaits you…Click here to play 56 Sage Street!
